Sarah Jessica Parker-'Sarah's Theme' (from Hocus Pocus)

Trick or Treat!
James Horner, who originated the musical process for the 1993 film 'Hocus Pocus' did pen this tune used in the final film. He compose the song 'Sarah's Theme', used in the film as source music, where it is sung by Sarah Jessica Parker's character. It is not included on the promotional album either. Since this track is not on any soundtrack release this is a HQ DVD rip. See other 'Hocus Pocus' posts for further soundtrack details.

Bette Midler-'I Put A Spell on You' (from Hocus Pocus)

Happy Halloween!
Here is a rare treat for you mouse music and more followers. 'I Put a Spell on You' by Bette Midler from the Disney film 'Hocus Pocus'. For you soundtrack collectors there is a promotional CD that was put out by the compser of the music, John Debney. Debney's score never was given an official release. However, Debney released a promotional only CD and is extremely hard to find, which is a big shame. Some trivia: James Horner was originally hired to score the film, but left the project for some reason (probably due to lack of time, as Horner scored ten films in 1993). 'I Put a Spell on You', in the film is performed by Bette Midler, and - as a tidbit - produced and arranged by Marc Shaiman. Since there is no soundtrack available with this track promotional or otherwise this is a HQ rip from the DVD. N-joy!

the Go Go's-'Let's Get Together' (from the Parent Trap)

'Let's Get Together', was a popular song written for the 1961 Disney film, 'The Parent Trap'. It was sung by teen actress, Hayley Mills and it was written by the songwriting brother team of Robert and Richard Sherman, who also wrote for 'The Jungle Book'. In the motion picture, Hayley Mills sings a duet with herself. This is because she played twin sisters which was a technical feat in the early 1960's. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1961 (b/w "Cobbler, Cobbler") and went on to become a top 10 hit, peaking at number eight. The credit on the single read "Hayley Mills and Hayley Mills," referring to Mills singing a duet with herself. The song's success led Mills to record an album, 'Let's Get Together with Hayley Mills', which included 'Let's Get Together' and Mills' only other hit song, 'Johnny Jingo'.
The song was homaged in the 1998 remake of the film as well with Lindsay Lohan singing the title line, and Nobody's Angel performing the soundtrack version. The Go-Go's performed a cover on the 'DisneyMania 5' album in 2007.

As she hangs out with her friends, she notices a boy repeatedly glancing at her. The boy's friend encourages him to talk to Ashley, but every time he gets close, she goes somewhere else. The video ends with Ashley asking him to dance, and then at the end Ashley kisses him on the cheek...awwwwwwwwwwwww.

Ashley Tisdale-'Kiss the Girl' (from The Little Mermaid)

In 2006, when 'The Little Mermaid' was re-released on DVD as a 2-Disc Platinum Edition, another rendition of the song was recorded, this time performed by Ashley Tisdale. The song was first heard on Radio Disney on September 4, 2006, and the music video premiered on September 6, 2006 on Disney Channel, immediately following an episode of the sitcom 'The Suite Life of Zack & Cody', as well as being featured on the DVD itself. Jonas Brothers-'I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)'-The Video (from The Jungle Book)

Here is The Jonas Brothers with 'I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)' from the Platinum Edition DVD 'The Jungle Book'.

Jonas Brothers-'I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)' (from The Jungle Book)

'I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)' is a song from Walt Disney's 1967 film, 'The Jungle Book'. The song was sung by Louis Prima and written by songwriters Robert and Richard Sherman. According to Richard Sherman on the Platinum Edition DVD and on the soundtrack, the "scat dialogue" between Baloo and King Louie was the result of two recording sessions. Louis Prima recorded first, and when Phil Harris decided not to imitate Prima's recording, he made up his own. The Jonas Brothers, who have done several Disney projects recorded 'I Wan'na Be Like You' for 'Disney Mania 5'. 'DisneyMania 5' is the highest charting album of the series, peaking at #14, one position above 'DisneyMania 4'. However, it had the second lowest first week sales (behind 'DisneyRemixMania'). To date, 'DisneyMania 5' has sold a total amount of 190,104 copies. This track was one of the 6 singles released off the album. Pictured are the "brothers" with Goofy at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Magic Kingdom Opens this day in History

On October 1 1971, after a lifetime of dreaming and four years of construction, the Vacation Kingdom of Walt Disney World was opened to the public. Roy 0. Disney honored his brother's memory and aspirations in his dedication speech, given later: "Walt Disney World is a tribute to the philosophy and life of Walter Elias Disney ... and to the talents, the dedication, and the loyalty of the entire Disney organization that made Walt Disney's dream come true. May Walt Disney World bring Joy and Inspiration, and New Knowledge to all that come to this happy place ... a Magic Kingdom where the young at heart of all ages can laugh and play and learn together. Dedicated this 25th day of October, 1971." This dedication is inscribed on a bronze plaque in the Magic Kingdom. Walt had wanted to call his vacation land "Disney World", but after his death Roy insisted that it be called "Walt Disney World". The resort became an instant success and in one year it had attracted almost 11 million guests. Left Photo by me!

Disney Announcement-'What Will You Celebrate'

Disney Parks has announced their new promotional campaign for 2009. The theme is ‘'Celebrations'’ and the tag line is “What Will You Celebrate?” The goal — get you and your family to book a trip to Disneyland or Walt Disney World to celebrate an event or occasion together. The campaign website (http://www.disneyparkscelebrations.com/) is where you’ll find a contest where you can win a Disney Vacation, learn about fun ways to celebrate milestones in your life such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Honeymoons and stubbing your toe....ouch! Just kidding, and find out the schedule for a new promotional tour. Also highlighted are tools to plan your vacation with. Additionally, they’re promoting Disney Environmentality with a message not to release your ‘Mickey Balloon’ into the air. The biggest news would seem to be that you can register to get free admission to a Disney Theme Park on your birthday in 2009 (you can register first online,or fill out papers at the gate, proof will be required. Already have an AP or multi-day ticket? There are other treats available if you already have admission such as a $75 gift card good only on your birthday for Disney merchandise.

Without even reading the Disney Press Release on this. It would appear that Disney is hoping to capitalize on what is already a major trend in their customer base. Disney has known for years that families tend to save for years to make the trip to the parks, they often do it around a special occasion. A few years ago they had a campaign called “Magical Gatherings” and it was essentially the same thing where Disney would organize special events for you based on the occasion you were celebrating. Finally, the whole campaign ties into a vacation planning package that will walk you through hotel, dinner, and event registrations. It was obviously successful enough they want to try it again.
