Disney Announcement-'What Will You Celebrate'

Disney Parks has announced their new promotional campaign for 2009. The theme is ‘'Celebrations'’ and the tag line is “What Will You Celebrate?” The goal — get you and your family to book a trip to Disneyland or Walt Disney World to celebrate an event or occasion together. The campaign website (http://www.disneyparkscelebrations.com/) is where you’ll find a contest where you can win a Disney Vacation, learn about fun ways to celebrate milestones in your life such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Honeymoons and stubbing your toe....ouch! Just kidding, and find out the schedule for a new promotional tour. Also highlighted are tools to plan your vacation with. Additionally, they’re promoting Disney Environmentality with a message not to release your ‘Mickey Balloon’ into the air. The biggest news would seem to be that you can register to get free admission to a Disney Theme Park on your birthday in 2009 (you can register first online,or fill out papers at the gate, proof will be required. Already have an AP or multi-day ticket? There are other treats available if you already have admission such as a $75 gift card good only on your birthday for Disney merchandise.

Without even reading the Disney Press Release on this. It would appear that Disney is hoping to capitalize on what is already a major trend in their customer base. Disney has known for years that families tend to save for years to make the trip to the parks, they often do it around a special occasion. A few years ago they had a campaign called “Magical Gatherings” and it was essentially the same thing where Disney would organize special events for you based on the occasion you were celebrating. Finally, the whole campaign ties into a vacation planning package that will walk you through hotel, dinner, and event registrations. It was obviously successful enough they want to try it again. As a former lead singer of the all girl group the Go-Go's , breaking up after just 3 albums in 1985, Belinda Carlisle has also enjoyed a very successful solo career. Releasing 7 albums, not incuding countless compilations. Her string of top 40 hits include the top 10's 'Mad ABout You', 'I Get Weak','Circle in the Sand' and the number one hit 'Heaven is a Place on Earth' in 1987. Nick Lachey & Jessica Simpson~ A Whole New World (from Aladdin)

Keeping the 'Aladdin' theme going here is one time married couple Nick and Jessica performing 'A Whole New World' from the movie 'Aladdin'. This song was re-recorded for the DVD -release of 'Aladdin',and was featured on the Disney Mania 3 CD. "I was a huge fan of the original song," Jessica says. But reveals, "It was really important for us to make 'A Whole New World' ours ... to put our flare into what we think the song should be for us." "We're just honored to cover it," Nick says. "Hopefully we'll do it justice the second time around."The talented twosome says the tune has a wonderful meaning. "The song has such a universal message," Nick says. "And people can relate to it." "The lyrics are all about love," Jessica says. "And everybody wants to hear about love."

Clay Aiken~'Proud of Your Boy' (from Aladdin)

'Proud of Your Boy' was an important song to the staff of 'Aladdin'. It was written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menkin, the composing duo who also wrote the music for 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Beauty and the Beast'. The song focused on Aladdin's relationship with his mother and Ashman said that it was his favourite song in the film.In the middle of Aladdin's production Howard Ashman died of AIDS. It was tough for the staff but it became even tougher for Alan when the decision was made to take the mother out of the story. The cut meant taking Proud of Your Boy out of the film which now Alan had become very attached to since the death of his friend. The song can also be found on the CD 'Disney Mania 3'

Olivia Newton-John~ Part of Your World (from The Little Mermaid)

The first song I am posting here at Mouse Music & More is a cover of 'Part of Your World' by Grammy Winner Olivia Newton-John. Olivia is perhaps best known for her role as squeaky clean teen Sandy Olsen in the Box Office smash hit musical 'Grease' and her string of 28 Billboard top 40 singles in the USA alone, including the number one hits 'I Honestly Love You', 'Have You Never Been Mellow', 'You're the One That I Want', 'Magic' and the mega hit 'Physical'. Besides 'Grease' (1978) Olivia also starred in 'Xanadu' (1980), 'Two of A Kind'(1983) and 'It's My Party' (1996). Newton-John was primed for a comeback in 1992 when she compiled her third hits collection, Back To Basics - The Essential Collection 1971-1992 and planned her first tour since her Physical trek ten years earlier. Shortly after the album's release, Newton-John was diagnosed with breast cancer forcing her to cancel all publicity for the album including the tour. Olivia has since been an advocate for breast cancer research. Originally recorded in 1996 for the 'Music from the Park' album Olivia's version of 'Part of Your World' has since been placed on many other Walt Disney Records Compilations. Currently Olivia can be scene on the LOGO channel starring in the Del Shores sitcom 'Sordid Lives-the series' reprising her role of Bitsy Mae Harling from the hit film version of 2000 and she has teamed with fitness franchise Curves to distribute 1 million Liv-Aid breast self-examination aids kits during October 2008, Breast Cancer Awareness month. A kit Olivia herself helped create.
